Selva-Caimari

The municipality of Selva is located 32 km from Palma. It is located in the district of es Raiguer and borders with Inca. The community has about 3,500 inhabitants and is made up of five villages: Selva, Caimari, Moscari, Binibona and Biniamar. This community is located on the slope of the Serra de Tramuntana, and is an area of contrasts, between the plains and the mountains. On the one hand there are calcareous mountains, which are heavy and bulky and forests, on the other hand there is a flat area, which is divided into numerous small owners of farms with dry and irrigated lands. The almond trees, the olive trees, the grain, the carob trees and the fig trees rise above all other crops.

Selva is the main city. The Gothic church of Selva is particularly worth seeing. It is from the 13th century and is dedicated to the patron saint of the town (San Lorenzo). According to popular belief, the highest part of the church is on the same level as the main square of the monastery Lluc.

Caimari: Caimari is the second largest city in the municipality and is located on the slope of the Serra de Tramuntana. Some of the important events taking place there are: The “olive market” in November and the international festival of classical music, which also takes place in November.
