If you enjoy playing golf, Majorca has courses with very different character, making it easy to spend several days of your holiday on the sport. Some courses are beside the Mediterranean, others are surrounded by pine woods, and some offer more technical layouts where every shot calls for careful strategy.
Before choosing where to play, it is worth bearing one thing in mind: the location of your villa has a big influence on how you organise your golf days. Staying in Alcúdia, near the courses in the north, is very different from staying in Palma, Son Servera or the south-west of the island.
So, when looking for the best golf courses in Majorca, it is more useful to compare them by area and features than to follow a ranking. The course that suits you best may depend on your playing ability, whether you want to try several courses and how much time you want to leave for the beach, villages and other holiday plans.

Golf courses in the north of Majorca: Alcúdia and Pollença

The north is a good choice if you want to combine golf with the beaches of the bays of Alcúdia and Pollença, visits to local towns and villages, and an area where the mountains also play a major part in the landscape.
You will find two courses here with very different personalities: Alcanada, a full-length course by the sea, and Golf Pollença, a nine-hole alternative set in an inland landscape.
Club de Golf Alcanada: golf beside the Mediterranean
Located near Port d’Alcúdia, the Club de Golf Alcanada is one of Majorca’s best-known courses thanks to its setting by the sea and views of Alcanada Lighthouse.
The course has 18 holes and was designed by Robert Trent Jones Jr. Its layout combines trees, strategically placed bunkers and a range of playing challenges that call for careful shot placement.
Views over the Bay of Alcúdia accompany much of the round, but the course offers more than just scenery. It is an interesting option for golfers who enjoy layouts where strategy matters as much as distance.
The club has a driving range, academy, shop and restaurant, and also accepts bookings from visiting golfers.
If you are staying in Alcúdia or Port d’Alcúdia, Alcanada is one of the first courses to consider because of its location. After your round, you could spend part of the day exploring Alcúdia’s old town or heading to the coast.
Golf Pollença: nine holes among olive trees and mountains
Golf Pollença offers a different experience. It is in the municipality of Pollença and has nine holes. The original design was by José Gancedo, and the course was remodelled in 2000 under the direction of Michael Pinner of the Nicklaus Group.
Among olive trees, undulating fairways and well-protected greens, the course alternates shorter holes with others that call for greater precision and strategy. From different points on the course, you can see the Serra de Tramuntana and the Bay of Pollença.
The main difference from Alcanada is the format. If you fancy playing nine holes and spending the rest of the day on other activities, it could be a particularly good fit. The club also offers 18-hole rounds by playing the course twice.
Golf Pollença welcomes visitors and has a practice area, golf school, shop and restaurant.
Staying in Pollença or nearby can be a good choice if you want golf to share the spotlight with excursions and walks in the north. For more ideas to round off your stay, see our guide to what to see in Pollença.
Palma and the surrounding area: different styles of golf in one area

The area around Palma has several 18-hole courses with different characteristics. This variety is especially useful if you want to play more than once during your holiday without arranging each outing in a different part of Majorca.
One of the main options is Arabella Golf Mallorca, which brings together the Son Vida, Son Quint and Son Muntaner courses.
Although they belong to the same golf complex, they do not offer exactly the same kind of layout.
Son Vida, Son Quint and Son Muntaner: three ways to play
Golf Son Vida is the oldest of the three. Opened in 1964, it has 18 holes and a technical layout that winds through the Son Vida residential area.
It is a course where shot placement and strategy matter a great deal. Its final hole, a par 5 with water beside the green, is one of the layout’s most distinctive features.
Golf Son Quint offers a different experience. Its 18 holes have a more open design, with fairways that allow you to play long shots and panoramic views towards Palma.
That does not mean it lacks challenge. The 12th hole, for example, is a par 3 with a water hazard in front of the green, calling for good distance control.
Golf Son Muntaner, meanwhile, combines wide fairways with technical greens. Its 18 holes form a strategic layout that may be especially appealing if you enjoy weighing up every shot.
All three courses accept bookings from visitors and offer practice facilities.
If you plan to play several rounds and want to compare courses without changing areas, having them grouped together is an advantage. You could also set aside one day to visit Palma, explore the old town or walk around the Cathedral.
Golf courses in the east of Majorca: varied layouts and landscapes

The east of Majorca has a particularly interesting range of courses for anyone who wants to alternate golf with visits to villages and the coast.
Between Son Servera, Artà and Capdepera, several 18-hole courses can be combined without changing your base during the trip. Further south, around s’Horta and Portocolom, Vall d’Or offers another option.
The advantage of this area is its variety. You can move from a course among pine trees to one with more changes in elevation, or choose a course where the sea is in view for much of the round.
Club de Golf Son Servera and Pula Golf: two distinctive courses
The Club de Golf Son Servera, in Costa de los Pinos, has 18 holes and a par-72 layout surrounded by Mediterranean vegetation.
Its fairways are relatively wide, although water, trees and undulating greens add challenges to bear in mind.
One of the course’s most distinctive sections lies between the 3rd and 7th holes, where the layout passes through pine woods with a lake and changes in terrain. The club welcomes visitors and has a golf academy, shop and restaurant.
Pula Golf, also in the municipality of Son Servera, is another 18-hole, par-72 course, redesigned by José María Olazábal.
Pula has a more technical, competition-focused character. The course has hosted professional tournaments and has an interesting feature: from the tee, you can see the green on 14 of its 18 holes.
It also has a two-tier driving range, putting greens and a dedicated area for practising approach shots.
Both courses take bookings from visiting golfers, but they offer different experiences. Son Servera may particularly appeal to those who enjoy playing among trees and Mediterranean vegetation, while Pula is an interesting choice if you are looking for a more competition-focused layout.
Capdepera Golf and Canyamel Golf: two options for a change of course
If you are staying around Artà or Capdepera, these two courses let you try different styles of play.
Capdepera Golf has 18 holes designed by Dan Maples. Its main distinction is the changing landscape throughout the round.
The course begins with relatively flat holes in a former agricultural setting. It then climbs towards the hills of the Serra de Llevant, particularly over the final six holes.
This contrast calls for adjustments to your game and makes the second half of the round feel quite different from the first.
Canyamel Golf, also in the municipality of Capdepera, has 18 holes and a par of 73. It combines a range of strategic challenges, with several particularly distinctive holes, such as the 9th, which features a stone structure within the course, and the undulating 18th green.
Both courses welcome visitors and have practice facilities to use before your round.
If you want to play more than once in the area, combining Capdepera and Canyamel lets you experience different challenges without moving your accommodation.
Vall d’Or Golf: sea views near Portocolom
Further south, in s’Horta between Cala d’Or and Portocolom, you will find Vall d’Or Golf.
This 18-hole, par-71 course features two clearly distinct landscapes.
The first half is dominated by undulating fairways and pine, olive and almond trees. In the second half, the terrain slopes down towards the coast, with more open spaces and views of the Mediterranean.
Vall d’Or welcomes visitors and has practice facilities and clubhouse services.
It can be a particularly appealing option if you are staying in the south-east of Majorca and want to combine a round of golf with visits to Portocolom, Cala d’Or or the coves in this part of the island.
Golf in the south-west of Majorca: Bendinat, Santa Ponsa and Andratx

The south-west has several other interesting courses, particularly if you are staying in Calvià, Santa Ponsa, Bendinat or Camp de Mar.
In this part of Majorca, you will find layouts with plenty of character, where changes in elevation, trees and water hazards can all play an important part.
Real Golf de Bendinat: a course among the mountains
Real Golf de Bendinat is in the municipality of Calvià, in a wooded valley near Palma.
Designed by Martin Hawtree, it has 18 holes that combine mountain scenery with views towards the Bay of Palma and Bendinat Castle.
This is a course where it pays to think about shot placement and the characteristics of each hole, rather than focusing on distance alone.
The club allows visitors to book green fees and has practice areas, a restaurant and other clubhouse services.
Golf Santa Ponsa I: wide fairways and a long course
Golf Santa Ponsa I is an 18-hole, par-72 course that opened in 1977.
Its layout combines wide fairways, a variety of tree species and water hazards. The 10th hole is a particular highlight: a par 5 measuring 590 metres from the back tees.
It is an option to consider if you enjoy long courses and want to test both your tee shots and your approach shots.
There is an important distinction to bear in mind when booking: Golf Santa Ponsa I accepts visitors, but Santa Ponsa II and Santa Ponsa III are for members only. Keep this in mind if you come across references to all three courses in the same search.
Golf de Andratx: a more challenging course in Camp de Mar
Located in Camp de Mar, Golf de Andratx offers 18 holes designed by Gleneagles Golf Development.
It is a technically demanding course, with changes in elevation, lakes and playing challenges that call for considerable precision.
Its 6th hole, known as the Green Monster, is a par 5 measuring 609 metres from the championship tee. The 8th hole, meanwhile, offers views over Camp de Mar Bay.
Golf de Andratx welcomes visitors and has practice facilities, a shop and food and drink services.
If you prefer courses with changes in elevation and a strong strategic element, it may suit you better than courses with more open fairways. It is worth checking the playing conditions and course status before booking.
Staying in this part of the south-west also makes it easy to plan days that combine golf with visits to Camp de Mar or Port d’Andratx.
Golf in the south of Majorca: two courses at Son Antem
If you are looking for accommodation in Llucmajor or nearby, you can also plan more than one day of golf without changing complexes.
Son Antem Golf Club is in this area and has two 18-hole courses: East and West.
Although they share facilities, they have different characteristics.
Son Antem East has a more open design, with wide fairways and relatively flat greens. On certain holes, you can use your driver more freely, although the course still offers challenges for experienced players.
Son Antem West has a more technical layout. Its greens are more undulating and protected by bunkers and water hazards. The back nine, especially the closing holes, calls for greater precision.
Both courses are par 72 and accept bookings from visitors.
If you want to spend two days playing golf without travelling to different facilities, Son Antem lets you compare two styles of play within the same complex.
Which area of Majorca should you choose if golf matters on your holiday?
So far, we have focused on the courses, but choosing where to stay can be just as important when planning a golf-centred trip.
Mallorca Charme has holiday accommodation in different municipalities across the island. So, talking about courses near “your villa” cannot give one fixed distance: it all depends on the exact location of the property.
A practical way to organise your search is to start with the courses that interest you most:
If you want to play at Alcanada and Golf Pollença, look for accommodation in the north first. Alcúdia and Pollença are useful places to start, although the distance to the course will vary depending on the property you choose.
If you want to play several courses around Palma, you may want to choose a location that makes it easy to travel to Son Vida, Son Quint and Son Muntaner. You can also spend part of your holiday exploring the island’s capital.
If your priority is exploring different courses in the east, keep Son Servera, Artà and Capdepera in mind. From this area, you can plan rounds at Son Servera, Pula, Capdepera or Canyamel, always checking the journey from your particular villa.
If you prefer the south-west, look for a base that suits the courses you have selected between Bendinat, Santa Ponsa and Andratx. They are not all in the same town, and the exact location can have a considerable effect on your journeys.
If you want to play at Son Antem, Llucmajor and the surrounding area are a sensible starting point when looking for accommodation.
You should also consider the people travelling with you. If not everyone in your group plays golf, a location that lets you combine rounds with other activities may be more appealing than choosing a villa solely for one course.
And if you are still deciding what kind of setting you want for your holiday, see our guide to staying inland or on the coast in Majorca.
Does it make sense to play several courses during your holiday?
It depends on how much of a part you want golf to play in your holiday.
If you are planning a golf-focused holiday, playing several courses can help you experience layouts with different characteristics. In that case, choosing an area with several courses relatively close together is more practical than selecting facilities spread across Majorca.
For example, from a well-located base near Palma, you can plan rounds at different Arabella Golf courses. In the east, you could alternate between Son Servera, Pula and Capdepera to compare some very different layouts.
On the other hand, if you are mainly travelling to relax, enjoy the beach and visit villages, you may prefer to book one or two rounds and spend the rest of your time on other activities.
There is another point to consider: an 18-hole round takes up a large part of the day. Add the journey from your villa, getting ready and time at the club afterwards, and it may not be practical to plan a long excursion for the same day.
A good solution may be to set aside a few mornings for golf and leave other days free to explore Majorca.
How to combine golf, beaches and other activities in Majorca

One of the advantages of coming to Majorca to play golf is that you can alternate your rounds with very different activities.
In the north, for example, a round at Alcanada can be part of a holiday that also includes time at Playa de Muro, a visit to Alcúdia or a trip around Pollença.
In the east, the courses at Son Servera, Pula, Capdepera and Canyamel can be combined with visits to Artà, Cala Ratjada or different coastal towns. If you play at Vall d’Or, Portocolom is another option for rounding off the day.
In Palma and the south-west, you can alternate golf with walks around the capital, visits to villages or time by the sea.
The key is not to try to fit too many activities into one day. If you want to enjoy your round at a relaxed pace, it may be more pleasant to leave the afternoon free to rest at the villa, go out for a meal or visit a nearby beach.
If you are travelling with people who do not play golf, it is also worth choosing accommodation where everyone can organise their own activities. Before booking, check the capacity, layout and facilities listed for each property.
What to check before booking a round of golf in Majorca
Although the courses mentioned offer options for visitors, their access and booking conditions may differ.
Before confirming a round, check the following directly with the club:
- Visitor access. Check that you can play on your chosen date and that the course is not reserved for a competition or private event.
- Playing requirements. Some clubs set conditions relating to handicap or proof of playing ability. Check the current requirements for the specific course.
- Green fees and booking conditions. Check the price for your date, payment terms and any cancellation fees.
- Course condition. Maintenance work may affect certain holes or greens. Check whether any work is scheduled.
- Facilities you need. If you want to hire clubs, use a buggy or practise before your round, check what is available and whether you need to book.
- Club rules. Check the dress code and any other conditions that apply to visitors.
- Journey from your villa. Check the route to the course entrance, access and parking options. Do not rely solely on the distance as the crow flies.
If you intend to play at several courses, it may be helpful to confirm your preferred tee times first and then plan the rest of your holiday activities around them.
Find a villa in Majorca for a golf holiday
If golf is going to be an important part of your holiday, start by deciding which courses you would like to play. You can then look for accommodation in an area that suits those courses.
In the Mallorca Charme holiday accommodation catalogue, you can search by location and use the golf-course distance filter to compare options.
You will also find properties in municipalities with golf courses, such as Alcúdia and Son Servera. For example, the listings for Villa Manresa in Alcúdia and Es Raconet in Son Servera identify well-known golf courses in their respective areas.
That does not mean every property in those municipalities is near a course or has the same features. Before choosing, check the exact location, the journeys involved and the facilities listed for each property.
This will help you plan your golf days from a base that also works for the rest of your holiday in Majorca.
