Calo des Moro

The Island of Majorca is, without a doubt, a paradisiacal place. In fact, there is such a variety of activities and places to enjoy, that we have prepared this list of things to do, activities that will make you treasure forever the memories of much of what it means to live in one of the most beautiful and paradisiacal islands of the Mediterranean Sea.

From coast to coast there are activities to do and enjoy on the island, both by boat, by car, motorcycle, or bicycle as well as on foot, which will delight the whole family and/or friends.

Ideas to visit Majorca for a week of vacation

Due to the great variety of experiences that can be enjoyed on this wonderful island, we have created a list that we love, which we want to share with you so that you can live the best experience of really knowing what to see and what to visit in Majorca in a week.

Truly, the best option to get to know the whole island is to rent a vehicle to be able to visit it at ease and in the desired order. Next, we give you an example of what a complete vacation would be like.

Day 1: Enjoy a day at the beach in Caló des Moro cove

Whether you are an Instagram professional or not, if you want to get one of the best postcards of the island of Majorca, you have to go to Caló des Moro. This cove is an essential place to immerse yourself in the true nature and beauty of an authentic Majorcan cove. Crystal clear turquoise waters together with white sand and a spectacular landscape of natural walls that protect it on both sides, the pride of the island, await you for one of the best postcards in all Spain.

To reach it, you will have to walk along a path for approximately 15 minutes from the nearest car park, but it is really worth if you want to spend a truly spectacular day at the beach. We recommend bringing all the necessary items to spend the day, as it is a natural cove, without amenities, unlike other more touristic and close to town ones, such as those of Playa de Muro, Alcúdia, Pollença and other towns.

Day 2: Visit the capital, Palma

Undoubtedly, the city of Palma de Mallorca has a unique beauty that will delight the most demanding travelers and visitors. A place full of history that will captivate you, forged upon the reconquests of different cultures and eras, each one leaving a mark more rooted in it than the previous one, passing through the centuries from the Phoenicians and Romans, to Muslims and Christians, among others.

One of the most characteristic sites in the history of Palma is the Cathedral, which is known on the island as Seo. It is a true jewel of Gothic architecture, restored by Gaudí, and that impresses from afar, causing one of the most famous views of the city and one that stands out the most on the entire island. You can buy a ticket for visiting it in the inside to admire this jewel of the Mediterranean.

Day 3: Cape Formentor

One of the most spectacular places in Majorca is, without a doubt, Cape Formentor. A very steep area with unparalleled views awaits you in the most northeastern part of the island. If you want to enjoy the day, we recommend you go to the Formentor Lighthouse, in an elevated area with zigzag roads, which can be reached by car or motorcycle, being able to enjoy the viewpoints on the way to the lighthouse and the wonderful views they offer, to obtain the most desired postcard of the island of Majorca. You can also go to Playa de Formentor, a spectacular cove with crystal clear turquoise waters that is located between the steep columns that protect it, creating a spectacular landscape to spend the day. Keep in mind that in high season there is usually a lot of traffic through the winding curves to reach the lighthouse, so we recommend going early.

Day 4: Visit Alcúdia and Puerto de Alcúdia

The entire northern area of the island of Majorca is a fairly touristic place. To the northeast, further south of Cape Formentor, we find the towns of Alcúdia and Muro, two spectacular locations to spend the day with your couple, family or friends. In Alcúdia you’ll have all your needs covered, being able to enjoy all kinds of tourist activities, good restaurants, shopping areas, green areas and walks, such as the wonderful bay of Alcúdia, being able to walk along the beaches of Alcúdia and Muro and breathe a little fresh air in an absolutely Mediterranean area.

A street market with native products of very different kinds is held every Friday, and you can go on various excursions from the town, such as those made by boat to the caves of Sa Cova Tancada, and from which you will treasure an amazing memory. A town with sea channels, designed at the time so that boats and cars intermingle, spectacular for taking a walk at night and ending up dipping your feet on the beach.

Day 5: Caves of Drach and boat trip

One of the most beautiful areas to record on the retina are the famous Cuevas del Drach. A must if you really want to know the richness of the island. There are four large caves that are located in the municipality of Manacor, and they are called Cueva de los Franceses, Cueva de Luís Salvador, Cueva Negra and Cueva Blanca. There is a large lake in one of them, and you can visit it by boat, enjoying a classical music concert inside while doing so, which has been held since the beginning of the 20th century. A whole show of lights and shadows with the special lighting of stalactites and stalagmites that give it an incredible and unique aura.
