Alcudia and Puerto de Alcudia
Alcudia country is 54 km from Palma and is located at the north of the island in the peninsula that separates the two large bays of Alcúdia and Pollença one of each other.
The Pollentia Mouseum in Alcudia has an exhibition of archaeological finds that were discovered at this enclave. The ruins of an amphitheater can still be found here this days.
The old town of Alcúdia is the center of the community. Alcudia expanded outward, as these charming and beautiful town was too small to receive the demographic growth and also the tourism boom! The main part of the old town is just for walking it is absolutly beautifull . Here you will find the typical Majorcan houses, art galleries, shops, restaurants and winding corners with great charm.
Alcúdia constituted a fantastic frame for lovers of nature. The community has a 30 km coastline with different landscapes, from beautiful sandy beaches to rugged cliffs and charming little coves of great beauty.
If you want to use hiking sport, we encourage you to explore the mountain trails of La Victòria. The trails are well marked and indicate the duration of each route. If you start from Alcúdia, you can choose diferents way to do it depending at the time and the severty on the way.
In autumn and winter, free guided tours are by the councyl under the program Hivern a Mallorca organized (Winter in Majorca). These trips take place between three and four hours. Get to know the time tables for enything you choose to do you have an open Tourism office in town.
Alcudia beach is the area that has most develope, the way it looks and it will continue to do so, if you love to have a nice and relaxing time, do not doubted this is the place that you can chill out get a nice boock in a confortable sun loungers an let the place do the rest.
Only four decades back, this area was virtually uninhabited. So big changes are taking place.Alcudia was appointed as an ecoturism community couse of their efforts in protecting the enviroment. Also the gastronomy is excelent we recomend the Restourants who have the ecolabel, Miramar, Don Vito, C’an Costa,La Costa de C’an Portassa, this are just a few of a good restourants you can find at this area.
Another recomendation The Pollentia Museum, Sports activities such as Nordic Walking, hiking and cicling can be operated easily and well from here.
