mallorca februar

The island of Mallorca in February has many charms that make this winter month perfect for visiting the island. February is the best time to see the almond blossom in all its glory. The weather in Mallorca is quite warm in February and in the low season is a good opportunity to discover the villages in the interior of Mallorca and in the Serra de Tramuntana.

For those who like hiking, this is also a good time to take advantage of the wide variety of routes offered on the island and especially in the Serra de Tramuntana. Seeing the fields full of almond blossoms makes hiking in February spectacular.

Weather on Mallorca in February

Normally the weather in Mallorca in February is different. There may be days or even weeks when the thermometer does not drop below 15 degrees during the day, but at the same time there may be days when, due to a cold spell, the temperature at night may drop to 6 degrees or even less, just like in the higher areas of the Serra de Tramuntana.

During these days it usually rains a little and the average temperature is between twelve and thirteen degrees. It is usually foggy in the morning because the contrast between the temperatures (up to 16 degrees for the day and 8 degrees for the night) on the island of Mallorca favours this meteorological phenomenon. It is advisable to wear light clothing during the day, but at sunset it is advisable to bring warm clothes.

Where is mallorca most beautiful in February

The peace and quiet and the mild climate of February offer the opportunity to enjoy more of the villages and the city of Palma. Among many of Mallorca’s charming villages stand out:

Pollensa

The city of Pollença is one of the most emblematic places in the north of the island. It is one of the oldest cities in this region north of the island of Mallorca. In recent years, people from different countries such as Germany, Great Britain and Scandinavia have been interested in buying a house or property in Pollença. The houses in the old town of Pollensa keep their typical Majorcan facades. To look at them while walking through the cobbled streets is a feast for the eyes. In the town centre there are different types of bars where you can enjoy a good coffee or restaurants where you can taste typical Mallorcan cuisine. The atmosphere that is lived and felt in the city of Pollença gives us an idea of what life was like in Mallorca 100 years ago.

When you visit Pollensa, don’t miss “el calvari”, the Calvary with its 365 steps, with a chapel at the end and the weekly market held every Sunday morning.

Banyalbufar

Banyalbufar Mallorca im FebruarThis typical and charming village of Mallorca is located in the southwest of the island in the heart of the Serra de Tramuntana. Its charm underlines the fact that it is located in an elevated area and close to the sea, offering breathtaking views. Although it is very close to the sea, the whole area is full of vegetation. Its beaches or coves are made of rocks and in Banyabufar beach you will find springs of fresh water that flow from the mountain directly to the sea. Many bathers use the fountains as showers This beach is little known and usually there are few people there We recommend hiking trails around Banyalbufar such as: Sa Volta Desb in general. This route starts at the Carretera C-710 and leads to the beach of the Port des canonges, on this way a path leads through pines and rocks to the sea. The degree of difficulty is easy

Valldemossa

Valldemossa is located between the city of Palma de Mallorca and the Serra de Tramuntana. The journey by car takes between 20-25 minutes from the city of Palma to the village of Valldemossa.

Valldemossa is surrounded by mountains, far away from mass tourism. Its old Majorcan houses and cobbled streets make the village of Valldemossa a must for tourists. It is one of the most famous villages on the island, since the composer Frederic Chopin and his lover George Sand spent one winter (1838-1839) in the town of Valldemossa, more precisely in the monastery. The most important places in Valdemossa are The Royal Charterhouse of Valldemossa, the church of the Charterhouse and the old pharmacy next to the Charterhouse. Entry to the Charterhouse includes a Chopin concert and a visit to the room where the Chopin composer spent a winter in Mallorca with his girlfriend George Sand. Chopin utensils are still preserved, as is his piano.
