Hiking in Mallorca – routes and recommendations

Mallorca is an ideal destination for hiking. The temperate climate of the Balearic Islands is ideal for hiking in many areas of the island. In our blog we show all kinds of hikes and tips for all ages and requirements. From idyllic coastal paths to routes through the impressive mountains of the Serra de Tramuntana.

In our blog we show you the hiking routes divided into zones of the Sierra de Tramuntana (Tramuntana Sur, Tramuntana Central and Tramuntana Norte).

The GR 221, as the route of the Serra de Tramuntana is called, has a lot of protagonism, but there are other areas of Mallorca where you can hike, such as the capes and coves in the north of the island, through the areas of Alcúdia, Pollença and Formentor. In the north you will find incredible and magical places. The Sierra de Llevant is also another area with many walking routes, has a lower altitude and does not have the special charm of the Tramuntana.

But it is these contrasts in the different areas of the island that make it such a special place for sports. Here you will find everything about the GR 221 route and hiking tips with photos that will guide you through the whole variety of landscapes.

We also explain the difficulty of the route and which ones are more difficult or wild. For example, the Torrent de Pareis route, which was once used by smugglers who arrived by sea and landed on the north coast of the island, using these routes and passes to avoid being caught.
