The most beautiful beaches and bays of Mallorca Copia

Schönste Strände auf Mallorca

The most beautiful, virginal, hidden, with transparent water and crazy turquoise colours. These are the most beautiful beaches of Mallorca or, at least for us, the best. A good guide that you can use as a reference for your holidays in Mallorca.

You don’t have to go to the Caribbean to enjoy good beaches because the island of Mallorca is proof of this. That’s why we show you here what we believe to be the best beaches in Mallorca.

In Mallorca, every time you visit a beach or bay, it is usually better than the previous time. You just think that nothing can beat it and the next day you find yourself on another beautiful beach. It is a wonderful madness.

The best beaches of Mallorca

You should know that there are many beaches and coves in Mallorca, and there may be many people who disagree with the choice of beaches. If you think that coves or beaches of Mallorca are missing, leave a comment and recommend those that you think should be on this list of the best beaches of Mallorca. It will be very helpful for all readers.

Cala de Sa Calobra

It’s hard not to fall hopelessly in love with this little bay. We are in the Sierra de Tramuntana, and this incredible paradise has formed at the mouth of a torrent that is enclosed between two 200-metre high cliffs. Its location is so spectacular that it is visited every summer by hundreds of thousands of tourists who come here by car and boat. It is recommended to visit early in the morning.

Sa Calobra Strand

It is a perfect place for snorkeling. The transparency of the water on this beach gives us many meters of visibility under water.

The road leads to a car park where you can leave your car and in about 10 minutes on foot you can reach one of the most beautiful beaches of Mallorca. By the way, from Sa Calobra you can enjoy one of the best sunsets of Mallorca.

Cala Tuent

Also in the Sierra de Tramuntana and only a few kilometres from Sa Calobra is Cala Tuent. Cala Tuent is not lacking in beauty. This beach of stone and sand surrounded by vegetation is much less frequented than its neighbour Sa Calobra and has a super intense emerald green colour.

Cala Tuent Strand

The environment is unbeatable. A mountainous frame under which the Puig Major stands out, which is the highest peak in the Balearic Islands at 1,445 metres.

Access to the beach is easy. The road ends exactly where Cala Tuent begins. If you feel like eating in the area, just over a kilometre away you will find the restaurant Es Vergeret, where the paella is the star dish and the views of the sea are impressive.

Playa S’Amarador

In the very famous town of Cala Mondragó you will find this small, unspoilt paradise with turquoise water surrounded by pine trees. A beautiful and peaceful shallow bay.

Amarador Strand

This beautiful beach with fine sand is part of the Mondragó Natural Park. It is a fantastic natural area of great scenic variety. But Playa S’Amarador is not alone. Right next to it is another beauty, Cala de ses Fonts de n’Alís, also called Cala Mondragó. It has restaurants and other tourist services, making S’Amador much less frequented.

The surroundings of Cala Mondragó are very easy to reach by car. Afterwards you have to walk about 400 metres on a nice footpath.

Cala Varques

Without doubt, it is one of the most spectacular beaches and coves in Mallorca. Cala Varques is completely surrounded by cliffs and, despite its small size, has an incredible extension of the bathing area with crystal clear water.

Cala Varques Strand-Bucht

The most beautiful thing about the beach of Cala Varques is a walk along the cliffs. Only from here you have the best view of the beach and you can reach the so-called natural bridge. A strange bridge-shaped rock only a few minutes away from Cala Varques.

In the last years it can only be reached on foot from Cala Romántica because of the big tourist flow. It is a longer way, but we believe that this arrangement will reduce the use of the beach.

Playa de Formentor

It does not have the most crystal clear water or the most amazing colour of all the beaches and coves of Mallorca … But there is something that makes it special. It is a kilometre-long bay that appears behind the lush vegetation of the mountains. In some places it seems that the branches of the trees fight to touch the sand. It looks like a beach from another planet, completely different from the others.

Formentor Strand

Access can be by boat or car. If you come by car, please note that the car park is located directly on the beach and is subject to a fee. Playa de Formentor is very popular with tourists, so in high season you may not find a parking space.

Cala Figuera

We are not moving away from Cabo de Formentor to talk about another one of those Majorcan beaches that will leave you speechless. A small bay with crystal clear water, nestled between cliffs.

Cala Figuera Strand

Cala Figuera is visible from the road that crosses the Cabo de Formentor nature reserve. A wonderful panoramic view that can be enjoyed for hours. But every paradise requires a certain effort. In order to get to the beach on foot, one has to cover a path of approximately one and a half kilometres with a very steep slope. This circumstance means that even in the months of the high season, one can enjoy an untouched and very quiet beach.

Cala Mitjana

Narrow, small and very busy, but damn pretty. We warn you, the pictures don’t do this place justice. So don’t let them influence you and don’t think that you have seen pictures of other, much more beautiful beaches. Pictures are not everything and this one is worth it.

Cala Mitjana Strand

Cala Mitjana (not to be confused with Cala Mitjana in the north of the island) is located in the south of Mallorca, very close to the beautiful village of Portocolom. This narrow, flat and quiet beach is a real pleasure. The sand is probably full of towels and bathers, but there is plenty of space in the shade on the surrounding rocky terrain. An experience.

The access is complicated and there are hardly any signposts. To get to the beach, you have to leave the village of s’Horta in the direction of Cala Sa Nau. Further down at a crossroads you will have to park your car. On the right side you will find a country house. Be very careful, because next to the fence there is a small sign with the inscription Camí de Cala Mitjana. It is about 20 minutes on foot. The beach is surrounded by a private complex, so you only have access to the sand and the surrounding rocks.

Playa de Muro

This kilometre-long beach of fine, golden sand, which seems to have no end, is one of the most impressive in the north of the island and the bay of Alcudia. On one side, crystal clear waters in a shade that is sometimes confused between green and blue, and on the other side, a dense forest of juniper. A new territory to enjoy its charms.

Playa de Muro Strand

Despite the high number of visitors, you only have to walk a few minutes to find a quieter area. The least visited and wildest area is the area around Es Comú de Muro or Casetes des Capellans. It is located in a protected area, the S’Albufera Natural Park. If you want to enjoy a few hours of peace and quiet in this area, do not forget to bring your own parasol.

Playa de Muro is located between the cities of Alcudia to the west and Can Picafort to the east. Access by car is easy via the Ma-12 road. You can easily find free parking.

Cala Torta

Virgin, isolated and really beautiful. More than 150 meters of fine sand and transparent water. It is surrounded by rocky areas and hills with thyme, which form a dry and really beautiful landscape.

Cala Torta strand

Although it is somewhat isolated and far from any inhabited area, access by vehicle is very easy. There’s a bumpy road that takes you to the beach itself in about 25 minutes. For this reason, it is recommended to visit it early in the morning to avoid the arrival of tourists from the main hours of the day. And of course, one can also visit the two neighboured bays Cala Mitjana and Cala Estreta in a short walk. They are beautiful.

Caló Des Moro y S’Almunia

They are probably the most popular and most visited beaches of Mallorca, and it is no surprise. Although each one has its own charm, they are very close to each other and both deserve to be included without a doubt in the TOP list of the best beaches of Mallorca..

Calo des Moro

Caló des Moro is a narrow and beautiful sea inlet that is so ideal that it seems unreal. It is the beach with the most spectacular and transparent water in the whole island of Mallorca. It is the typical picturesque beach that you can find in the catalogues. It is practically a huge natural swimming pool and ideal for snorkeling.

S’Almunia is the beautiful neighbour. An old seafaring village with small white houses overlooking the turquoise ocean. Access to the water is from a concrete platform or from the rocks themselves, where bathers spread out their towels and enjoy a little piece of paradise.

The downside of both is that they are always full of people. Especially the first one, Caló des Moro. Even the fact that you have to walk to get there does not stop anyone from enjoying these beauties. You have to park your car in the village of Cala Llombards. From there it is a 10 minute walk along a path that leads directly to Caló Des Moro. From there another path leads to S’Almunia in a few minutes.

From our point of view, these are the best bays and beaches of Mallorca, but there are many more like Es Trenc, Cala Agulla, Camp de Mar, Playa de Ses Dones, Cala Mendia, Cala Estreta, Cala de Deia, Playa de Cala Clara, Playa de San Telmo, Cala Gran or Cala Esmeralda.

Under this link you will find a list of all Mallorca’s beaches and their technical data sheets.
